Continuous professional development throughout your career
CTSN is a large network of teaching schools, looking to develop research, development, training and support for every stage of a teacher’s career. This means that training with CTSN SCITT is so much more than a one-year training course; it is the beginning of a career-long journey of high quality, professional development, supporting you throughout your teaching career.
Work in local schools
More than 90% of our trainees go on to work in local schools; this is a very high proportion, showing clearly the benefit to both schools and trainees of close collaboration between schools and the SCITT.
Research engaged training
Research and development embedded in CTSN’s training.
Also, we have very good links with the Chartered College of Teaching and offer subsidised membership for all our school-based mentors (all trainee teachers are offered free membership). All our trainees are involved in the development of professional knowledge through action research; for non-salaried trainees this will be part of the PGCE qualification, in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University.
